On June 27, 2024, the online meeting of the regional network of self-regulatory organizations established within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with media self-regulatory organizations of Central Asian countries was held.

The MCM and media self-regulation organizations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan participated in this meeting. They exchanged information on the progress and problems in the media industry during one year, including the current state of professional journalism, the formation of media ethics, the rights of journalists, and how the legal environment affects the media.

At the meeting, G. Gunjidmaa, Executive Director of the MCM, shared her experience on the formation and future of the MCM and presented the complaints submitted by citizens, companies, and government organizations on journalism pieces over the past nine years and related decisions.

However, during the meeting, representatives of other countries emphasized that press freedom issues are comparatively different in some Central Asian countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Central Asian countries highlighted the independent and stable operations of Mongolian media self-regulation. They expressed their desire to learn from the Mongolian experience as a model and to share the policy and experience implemented regarding protecting and strengthening the freedom of the press and civil space in Mongolia.
