MEDIA COUNCIL MONGOLIA CLUB MET

Media Council Mongolia Club, the one of the initiators of the Media Council of Mongolia, met again five years later. During the meeting, they shared their memories of how the Club found its activities and shared their views on the current state of MCM, results, and achievements.

Representatives from the media sector, who are interested in establishing media self-regulatory bodies and building media ethics, established the Media Council Mongolia Club in 2014. They came together to promote media freedom, build accountability of journalists and media organizations to society, develop ethical and professional standards in the media sector, and protect journalists’ right to be independent.

Mr. Tserenjav D, a member of the Club, said, "Our Club achieved its goal and fulfilled its historical role. Our main goal was to establish an independent Media Council voluntarily. We will continue to develop the formed cooperation. Of course, it is our duty to protect media freedom and to have a voice in the process of an independent media development.”

Mrs.Tamir U, the former coordinator of the Club, said, “since its establishment, the Club used to have weekly meetings to discuss and improve the country's media's ethical issues in comparison with other countries. It had been very helpful in strengthening the current MCM’s operations.”

Media Council Mongolia Club’s members expressed that they will support and advise to strengthen MCM activities, promote it to the public, and increase its effectiveness.
