A NEW ARTICLE WAS ADDED TO THE MEDIA ETHICS PRINCIPLES

The MCM was organized its all members training and Board Members meeting of the second quarter on April 27-28, 2019. During the meeting, an article entitled “ELECTION” was added to the Media Ethics Principles.This new article provides opportunity to work faster during election campaign.

By adding one new article, now the Media Ethics Principles have 10 articles. The Article 10 defines that “Media shall avoid publishing any information about candidates during the period of time when a person, who is accused, cannot make any comment before the vote day”.
 

In accordance with the new article, the Complaint procedure was updated by a new article, too. In the article 8 of the Complaint procedure, it’s defined that “If any complaints submitted for any political party or candidates, complaints shall be resolved in short period of time considering short election campaign period. Relevant explanatory letter/comments from newsrooms shall be received within one day. The Secretariat will arrange immediate meeting and ensure members of the Ethics committees to be attended.

Also, seven articles of the Complaint procedure were amended.
